Oh my! Where do I even begin? It has been far too long since I last wrote something for you all. I endeavor to write so much more now that I have to free time.
In addition to the release of January’s edition of Vogue Australia, i thought it wouldn't be fair if I didn't review the summer trends, straight out of the ‘Summer Handbook: VogueMOOD.’ The pattern is Gingham Often mistaken for plaid is none other than Gingham. Both look merely identical, but with one massive difference. Plaid is a woven wool that creates a cloth texture where as gingham is crafted from a more natural light cotton blend. Out with the winter and plaid and in with gingham and summer! The stylish pattern has taken over the scene this season, covering everything from dresses to bikinis to sexy 90’s style crop tops. The palette is Natural This season, ‘natural’ is defined as raw materials in their unfinished states. This, along with earthy tones, loose shapes and the simplistic designs create a stylistic alternate vibe. Basic layering of these light, simple clothes and accessories allow an intricate attitude to rise. Times and trends like these ‘ignite the desire to let go.’ The silhouette is Tiered Tiered frills, tiered ruffles, tiered dresses, tiered tops. How could anyone say no! Tiered is so addictive and chic and so underrated it’s so not fair. Layers upon layers of lace, silk or feathers. The silhouette, this season is just not complete without some form of tiered component. Perfectly complimented by an off the shoulder top or a tight fitting pencil skirt to accentuate the hips. Nothing beats tiered this season, nothing. The motif is Dark Florals Dark Florals, more specifically the pansy, are becoming more common and everyday. Although , becoming an introduction to everyday street fashion, they haven't lost their high class designer status. Examples like these are beginning to arise more in the general population, thoughtfully due to the ever growing ‘black market’ knock off chic. An evolutionary era where you can no longer tell a person's wealth by the clothes or shoes. We now live in a society where everything high class or posh can be made in a mediocre, second-rate, low standard way to fool not only the buyer but society itself. It can trick you into not only believing it, but sadly living it.

Style Vs. Comfort
In the red corner we have style and in the blue corner we have comfort. Both ready to fight to the finish to see who really takes precedents when it comes to your fashion taste. You know that stylish red trench coat that lives in that back of your cupboard? The one that is scratchy and really uncomfortable to wear but you probably still wear it anyway? That’s exactly what I am talking about. Do you favour style over comfort? When I say comfort I don’t mean you PJ’s or those old sweats that you just wear all the time at home. I’m talking about say jeans and a well-fitting shirt and comfy jacket over the top. But only if that’s what you consider comfy. For some, it’s not. It’s the same with shoes. Dressy shoes or sneakers? No pain, no gain my friends. On a side note, some small tips for shoes that you find uncomfortable.
What do you prefer? Style or Comfort? One thing I always get asked is, “Why don’t you brush your hair?” Now for a lot of you curly haired peeps out there like me, you know EXACTLY why we don’t brush our hair, especially when it is dry. You’ve all seen the meme but just in case you haven’t… For you, it may seem funny. For us, it’s none other than the reality that we have to deal with every single day of our lives. Of course you could get your curly luscious locks chemically straightened, but hey, where’s the fun in that?! Not to mention the extravagant amount of money it will cost you… Please don’t mention the money, please don’t mention the money, please don’t mention the money… Too late, I already did. Sorry. Never the less, there are several things that you can do to tame your mane that may work for you. Depending on whether it’s the frizz or the fall of the curl you want there are endless possible treatments, natural and chemical, that can work for you. Personally, I like to try the natural ones as most of the ingredients are things that you have in your cupboards at home or can get easy access to at your local grocer or supermarket. They are also safe, chemical free and you know exactly what is going in it. Natural Hair Masks. My top 5 natural hair masks that seem to work for me are: 1. Banana Mask
2. Strawberry Mask
3. Beer Mask Now I know this is going to sound extremely weird but don't knock it till you try it!
4. Pumpkin and Honey Mask
5. Apple Cider Vinegar Mask
Even though this is just 5, there are endless variations and adaptation out there so find what works for you! What’s your secret home hair mask recipe? Vote on your favorite below! Bronzer. Bronzer can really be used by itself or in a full on makeup look. Its creates the perfect contours and adds that bit of extra colour to your face. By itself, it is a perfect everyday item for just that natural look. A bit to the cheek bones, either side of your forehead, your nose, your neck and around the edges of your face. Even use it then as an eye shadow or enhancer. For an all-out make up look bronzer is perfect for those intense contours and eye shadows. Bronzer on a large fluffy brush or powder brush should be used to get a perfect coverage. Black eyeliner. Black eyeliner (pencil or gel) can be used for not only your eyes but believe it or not your lips as well. Adding the smallest amount of black eyeliner to your lip gloss or lip stick can make it a tiny bit darker and makes it last longer too. Although using it for your eyes is great as well (duh!) when it is applied on the water line of your upper lid. This makes your eyes look a lot more awake and you look more refreshed. Blush. Now I’ve probably said it a hundred times but blush makes a fabulous eye colour and lip colour as well as its intended purpose for cheeks. It’s used for the natural look when, like the bronzer, you just want an everyday feel. Apply a little bit to your eye lid, cheek bones and lips, add some lip gloss and voilà! There are things that I know that you don’t and there are things that you know that I don’t. How can I even begin to know who you are anymore after all these years? Were you the one that I let get away? Was it that I never saw things from your point of view? Or am I just overreacting? Overreacting or not, I bet it’s true. However, there’s one thing that you should know that you don’t and probably never will. I doubt you would even believe it anyway. It all started back when we were young innocent children that never thought about what may happen in the future. You would always tell me to live in the moment and not let whatever the future held to get to me, it wasn’t worth the worry. For someone your age at the time, that was quite inspiring, even if I didn’t know it just yet. In complete disregard to what you had said, we would play dress ups and pretend we were going off to work. I would always dress as a doctor, trying to fix everything and everyone. And you were always more into the business side, you liked having the facts and a systematic way of doing things, even if it was just make believe. The photos of these days live in my photo album, hidden behind other photos to try and remind me that you are still here yet, maybe you’re something I should push to the back of my mind and deal with another day. Back then you didn’t know and you still don’t know now. But as usual, being the ‘doctor’ I would make mistakes and stuff everything up. I blew it for us, it was always my fault. Please don’t ever blame yourself for any of this. No matter how hard I tried to save the heart that had stopped beating like it was meant to, it couldn’t be saved. I just couldn’t save this one, it was hopeless. From what started out as something so innocent, so young, so naïve, had turned into something so tragic, heartbreaking and hopeless. It just never seemed to fall into place. But after the heart had stopped and there was no hope left in this world that could fix he damaged that had been done, I still never stopped trying to find that small, yet almighty and powerful glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, someday things might be the same. I felt like a lost boat at sea, just drifting aimlessly around in the wide, blue, void of nothingness. It’s felt like it was never meant to be. But they say that the answers we get may depend on the questions we ask. Well, you never knew any of this, none of it at all because I never asked. I never asked, I never let on, I just never told you that one thing I wanted you to know more than anything else in the world. It’s as if something incredible was waiting to happen, it just wasn’t here or meant for us. It was meant for someone else, somewhere around the world and they are probably happy and living their lives. Maybe we just missed our ‘something incredible.’ Maybe the timing was off, we were in the wrong place at the wrong time, maybe we just weren’t the perfect fish in the sea we thought we were. But, unfortunately, whether it is for the better or worse, you still, to this day, don’t know that one thing I wish you did. Ever since the beginning of time, legs have been the way of travel. It gives us, as humans, a more grounded feeling, more connected to the earth and the world around us. It’s something that’s been lost over time, taken over by the modern day mans’ inventions. Evolution is still important but sometimes getting back to basics is much more rewarding than the thrill of the modern day technology. Sometimes, what you learn on the way is more important than why. Sometimes, the journey is more exciting than the destination.
People are seen as rude or arrogant when they decline a ride from someone. There’s nothing rude about wanting to walk to where you are going rather than taking the easy way out. However, society doesn’t think like this anymore. Getting back to basics doesn’t seem like something that most people are interested in anymore. The faster they get somewhere, the better in majority of people’s opinion. The minority of the population would rather spend the extra time, taking the journey by foot and letting the experience be somewhat of a life lesion to them. It’s sometime the small things in life that make the journey worthwhile. In the time it takes to appreciate the finer detail of a building, the small joke on a coffee shop sign, or the simple arrangement of the parking spaces, strategically lined up in the middle of the street, could be time better spent thinking of more important things, such as work, money or transport, in some people’s opinion. However, if you don’t learn something from the journey, how meaningless is the destination then? What’s the point? Some people say that small things amuse small minds. Well I disagree. I believe that small thins amuse those who take the time to appreciate them for their true worth. How boring would the world be if everyone just went from one destination to another? How would you experience new ways of life, a new culture or meet new people? Take being in a new country for example. By foot, you can experience the most wonderful things that by car, bus or train you otherwise would not even see. The experience of taking a walk through a local market is one that should never be forgotten. It is something special, it’s almost hard to describe. The way that you interact with people, face to face, when you are on your feet, how different it can be, how connected you can feel to them even though you have just met. In hind’s sight, a destination is just a new starting point for a new journey. Whether it’s from home to work, country to country. No matter how big or small, long or short, the journey is more of an experience than the destination. Redefine your destination. Destination: a goal point in a journey in which you can then create another journey from. -Happy Blogging! x After the discovery of LoveXStyleXLife by Garance Dorѐ, my perspective on the idea of making it in the fashion industry has completely changed. It has opened my eye to the power of blogging and the internet. Promotion and contacts are everything! If you don’t know anyone in the industry that you are in, then you’d better start making some. It’s not what you know, it’s who you know. It’s the trick to the trade.
Also, below are the 10 steps to living your dream by the one and only Garance Dorѐ. Step 1. Start Where You Are. Work with what you have. Create with what you have got and let it grow from there. Dorѐ explains that she knew nothing of the world growing up on an island, Corsica, and where you would either farm or own a practical shop and if it weren’t for the books and magazines that she was reading she would never had extended her horizons to what the world had to offer. However, the way that the world was changing so drastically from what Dorѐ was reading led her to doubt whether she would ever become a part of it. Step 2. Get Lost And Find Yourself. ‘Losing yourself only takes a second, but finding your way back can take years.’ Lose yourself, experience things that you wouldn’t normally. Throw yourself into situation that allows you to take a risk and allow this to be a life lesson to then in turn find yourself in the end. Step 3. Follow the Signs. ‘I saw you yesterday at the museum – nice boots. Would you be interested in working with at the museum’s cinema?’ The signs are everywhere, you just have to put them out there in the right way. Dorѐ bought the new pair of boots, afterwards she was completely broke, for an interview with the museum’s director, however it wasn’t the director that made the comment. It was someone that work for the museum that saw her on the way in. It is crazy how small details can lead to big opportunities. Step 4. Risk Failure. ‘I had to accept that an artist’s life wouldn’t be comfortable, but I suddenly realized that at his rate I would end up under a bridge, exactly as my mother had predicted.’ Finally, Dorѐ had the career that she had always dreamed of however, after her first commission in a local magazine, she did the maths and worked out that the work she was doing was never going to earn her enough in the time that she need to be in a comfortable situation. She risked it, she failed, but she didn’t give up. Step 5. Use What You’ve Got. ‘One of my friends, Sarah, gave me the name Garance. Garance Dorѐ. This is how my story began. A computer, a name, and a dream.’ Use your family and friends. Take what you can get and work with that. Step 6. Fall In Love. ‘People were encouraging me. I had fans! Unknown people from unknown places would visit the blog every day to tell me they loved my stories and my illustrations. To this day, it’s still the thing that bring me the most joy.’ It’s firsts in life that you remember most. The first comment, the first blog post, the first time you fell in love, the first time you experienced heart break, the first time you experienced loss, the first time you succeed and the first time you fail. But love all the first whether they are good, bad or otherwise. They are all steps toward the end goal. Step 7. Seize The Moment. ‘I didn’t know it at the time, but I had created something completely new.’ Dorѐ was booked for interview, but not wanted to attend because of the fact that she may had been scrutinised due to the fact that she didn’t live in New York or Paris. Seizing the moment takes time for some. However, once you do it can lead to the most incredible things! Step 8. Question Your Beliefs. ‘For a long time I believed that I shouldn’t ask for too much. That it was shameful to be ambitious.’ Sometimes beliefs can change due to that fact that it doesn’t allow you to take forward how far you want to get in life. It can restrict you from ultimately not making in the industry. Step 9. Make Your Own Rules. ‘I had learned how to learn as well. To make something from nothing. To ask questions, to surround myself with good people and believe in my instincts.’ When you have to power, you can make the rules. When you learn to learn what others like and want, you can start to create ideas around that. Which is why you should always ask questions. You will never know if you don’t ask. Step 10. You Have To Create Your Own Definition Of Success. So if you don’t already have Garance Dorѐ’s book LoveXStyleXLife, I suggest you get yourself a copy here --> http://www.lovestylelife.com/ Also while you are there, you should really check out her blog! Happy Blogging! x If ever in doubt...
Follow your heart... Nothing can be more right than your intuition. Although technically in life it can be wrong, truely it is the right way to go. Everything happens for a reason whether it be good or bad. Which brings me to one important point... Can you still be right even when your wrong? When your so sure your right but proved wrong. Don't let these people dictate your life. The best revenge? Let them think they are right. Agree with them. Make a clear point to do so. Nothing will annoy them more... Happy Blogging! xx Little did I know, but that idea of becoming a blogger meant that post were meant to be relevant and up to date with the time. However, now I realise that you don’t have to just write what the people want, but you can write whatever you want and it seems that people will read it. Whether it gets the negative or positive talks going, the talk is the talk and that’s that. If blogging was as easy as it seemed, more people would probably doing it. It’s harder than it looks, not the same thing over again, boring and means nothing, has no relevance or just doesn’t fit in. This blog is for not only keeping up with what’s new but to voice an opinion that may or may not influence the people. Whether it changes the world or just one person it’s a goal that I’m will to set.
